Burke, VA is one of America’s early cities, named after Silas Burke (1796−1854) a farmer and business man that built his house overlooking Pohick Creek. Burke is located within Fairfax County and uniquely offers its residents instant access to the Virginia Railway Express Station located in Burke and George Mason University located in Fairfax, VA. Burke Lake, one of the larger lakes in Northern Virginia is home to some of the most beautiful birds in the area. Burke Centre is a very large development similar to Reston, VA in that it is also a planned community. Burke is home to two very large High Schools in Fairfax, Robinson and Lake Braddock. Both are excellent academically and highly competitive athletically. The Robinson Rams and Lake Braddock Bruins football teams compete each year for supremacy making attendance similar to a college atmosphere on any autumn, Friday night. Burke is centrally located in Northern Virginia, just outside the Capital Beltway and offers quick access to everything, Washington D.C, the Pentagon, Fairfax County Parkway and Tysons Corner.
